Overview
The Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Garden City Hospital will provide physicians with training in Sports Medicine leading to competency in diagnosis, treatment and preventive care of patients engaged in athletics and exercise. Successful completion of the structured curriculum of 12 months will enable the Resident to sit for the examination for Board Certification of Added Qualifications in Osteopathic Sports Medicine through his/her own primary certifying board. This certification is awarded by the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association.
Selection Process
Applications will be accepted beginning in July 2010 for the 2011-2012 academic year. Forms and instructions are available in the application information section of this website. Candidates for this program must have completed or be currently enrolled in an AOA-approved residency program in any of the following specialties: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), OMM/Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, or Occupational-Preventative Medicine.

Stanley J. Sczecienski, DO, FAOASM
Dr. Stanley Sczecienski, or Dr. Stan, as he is commonly known, is a graduate of University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Stan completed his residency in Family Medicine at GCH and is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine. He was a consulting physician for the 1996 Olympic Games and provides services for numerous professional, collegiate, high school and community-based sports teams. His practice, located in the GCH Westland Specialty Center, includes sports and occupational medicine and will serve as the continuity clinic site for this program.
