Residency Overview
This three-year program provides a broad clinical experience to general and subspecialty Internal Medicine within a community hospital setting.  Residents may tailor their curriculum to prepare them for primary care IM or subspecialty residency training; outside electives are also available.  Block didactics are held weekly on Wednesday mornings and feature guest speakers, Harrison's review, and journal club.  ICU/IM call is scheduled on a tiered system.

Garden City Hospital offers fellowship training in the following subspecialties.
* Cardiology (3 year program)
* Gastroenterology (3 year program)

Nephrology (2 year program)

Information for Applicants for 2010
Garden City Hospital is offering a
$3,000 primary care incentive bonus for residents in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine and OBGYN, payable after advancement to OGME-2.  Applications are accepted via ERAS.  Most interviews are scheduled on Friday mornings and permit candidates to meet current residents and faculty.

Program Director: 
Christopher Doig, DO, FACOI

 

 

Dr. Doig is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He completed his internship at Detroit Osteopathic/Bi-County Community Hospitals.  Dr Doig completed Internal Medicine residency at Botsford Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident during his senior year.  He is certified in Internal Medicine by the AOBIM and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists.  Dr. Doig has received numerous recognitions, including Intern Trainer of the Year at Garden City Hospital on multiple occasions, and ACOI Internist of the Year in 2006.
