Cardiology
Cardiology Fellowship Overview Garden City Hospital offers three years training in general clinical, invasive, and noninvasive Cardiology. The program emphasizes a highly integrative approach to diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. Bedside teaching, as well as performance, interpretation and application of all diagnostic modalities are incorporated into a holistic approach to patient care. There are ample opportunities for elective rotations, both on and off campus, the second and third years. All ACOI requirements for training are met and often exceeded. Evidenced based medicine and academics are incorporated into the program on a weekly basis, including the American College of Cardiology self-assessment program series. Teaching is active at all levels.
Selection Process Applications will be accepted for the 2010-2011 academic year through December 2009. It is anticipated that two positions will be available. Prerequisites include completion of an AOA-approved internal medicine residency. For an application form and required documents, please visit the application information section of this website. Program Director: Emmanuel Papasifakis, DO, FACOI, FACC
Dr. Papasifakis is a graduate of Des Moines University. He completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, OH, followed by fellowship in Cardiology at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Papasifakis, or Dr. Papa as he is commonly called, serves as the Director of Cardiology at Garden City Hospital and is certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology.
